Business on the Barrow Blueway

Trip Boat moored up in Vicarstown, Laois

Setting Up On The Barrow Blueway

With the Barrow Blueway nearing completion, it’s not a bad time to be looking at opportunities that might arise from this. Many people often ask about setting up a business on the water and I always tell them to just go for it. The new Blueway will be ideal for anyone interest in doing Bike hike, Boat hire, Kayak/Canoe hire, Barge hire, Tea/Coffee docks, Walking Tour Guides, Stand-Up Paddle Boarding, Open Water Swimming and Foraging/Eco Tours etc. The list of possible businesses is endless. If you have an idea or have a dream about your ideal job, now’s the time to get cracking on it. The first step I would suggest is to contact your local Leader Partnership whether that is County Kildare or County Laois if you are planning to be based on the new Barrow Blueway. For further down the Barrow, County Carlow and County Kilkenny will be of help. They will help you with planning, training and finance. Just ring them up, arrange a meeting and float your idea. They will guide you from there. Anyhow, to get you started and get the imagination working, I’ve dropped two publications below that are worth looking at and having a read. And grab a look and some of the high potential locations along the route such as Lowtown, Rathangan, Monasterevin, Fisherstown, Vicarstown and Athy. And everywhere in between to be honest.
Anyhow, all the best with the new venture and hopefully we’ll catch up on the water soon. If I can be of any help in anyway what so ever, please just shout. The very best of luck. Cliff
